Fish out of water? Being the church in contemporary culture

Culture is the water we swim in. But what happens when the water changes? Does the gospel change too? What about the church? In this talk, we will explore the relationship of church and culture, consider some of the major changes that have taken place around us in recent years, and think about how the church has responded.

Ice fishing or diving in?  Following Christ in contemporary culture

What does it mean to be in the world but not of the world? Is God relevant to our lives today? In this talk, we will consider some characteristics of contemporary culture, and explore how we might introduce people to Jesus in a way that connects with real life  in a rapidly changing world.

(Dr. Robbins is the Director of Doctoral Studies, Academic Dean, and Associate Professor of Theology, Culture and Ethics at Acadia Divinity College.)
